Author's Note: I've completed the whole story yay!!! I feel so accomplished :D:D. But this is not the final chapter though. I'll post them up chapter by chapter (does that even makes sense?). Anyway yeah... Enjoy ^^
Back in the forest…
Murakami Shingo was leading his pack of merry men down the unbeaten path of the forest… well, at least that was what he kept telling himself. In actual fact, the whole group was cranky and tired. Yoko was complaining non-stop, Yasu and Maru were playing a game of ‘I Spy’, but since they were in the middle of a forest, most of the answers happened to be trees. Hina tried his best not to smack their head. Each of them had their own way of dealing with things, he kept reminding himself. He was most worried about Subaru and Okura though. Both of them had gone really quiet.
“I spy something black in the sky,” Hina heard Maru say.
“A bird?”
“Nope.”
Hina looked at the sky as well. Something black which wasn’t a bird? And that was when he saw it. Smoke. He panicked for a while, thinking maybe it was a forest fire but then he noticed something…
“It’s a shack,” he mumbled. There’s a shack!” he shouted loudly as he pointed towards the said shack.
All of the members looked up and smiled broadly. They were saved. A shack with smoke coming out of it means it’s occupied.
“Food!” Tacchon exclaimed a he ran towards it.
“Yay!” Yasu shouted as he too ran towards the shack with a broad grin.
The rest of them followed. They were saved… or so they thought.
Tacchon was already banging on the door when Hina reached the shack. It seemed that he had seemed to forget he had broken his arm at the thought of getting warm food.
“Is anybody in?” Tacchon asked in a loud voice, similar to that of Hina when he’s on air.
Everyone snickered. They’ve never seen their youngest member this hyper before. The wooden door slowly creaked open. Okura took a step back as soon as he saw the hunched hooded figure who had just opened the door. But it wasn’t only him. The whole group was speechless. They couldn’t really see the figure’s face but they could still feel goosebumps on the back of their necks. Hina was the one who spoke up first.
“Ermm… I’m sorry if we are...” Hina didn’t even manage to complete his sentence before the hooded figure interrupted him.
“Go away!” the figure shouted.
Eito stared at the figure in shock. Even Yoko and Hina who usually talk a lot were at a loss of what to say.
“Go away!” the figure shouted again, this time while shooing them off with a broom.
It hit Hina directly on his head. Hina saw red. His hand reflexively went up but Subaru and Yoko held him back. Maru stepped up as the three Ossans stepped back.
“We’re sorry if we’ve offended you but we really, really - “
The figure ignored Maru completely and stated shouting again, even louder this time. Maru held both his hand up in surrender as Eito walked away from the dilapidated shack in disappointment.
Hina was swearing loudly as they walked away. Subaru and Yoko was standing at on either side of him, afraid that their friend will go berserk at a moment’s notice and destroy everything in his path. Maru shook his head in dismay. He couldn’t - wouldn’t believe what just happened. He turned around and looked at Yasu. The little guy looked so forlorn. Maru went to him and gave him a bear hug.
“Everything will work out somehow,” he said softly as he patted the back of his friend’s head. Yasu gave a faint smile. Maru held the little guy’s hand as they tried to catch up with the Ossans. But that was when he stooped dead in his tracks.
“Where’s Tatsu?” he asked loudly.
The members looked around. Okura was gone.
Okura went around the shack. He was sure they couldn’t get through the front door. The man/woman/figure/whatever it was was acting so irrational. Either he/she/it was a total hermit or he/she/it had something to hide. He grinned broadly when he found what he was searching for. It was a window. Even though it was boarded up, there were slits in between the wooden boards. He leaned forward and peeped in. The shack was dark - it was only lighted by a single candle set far in the other corner of the shack. But it was enough to see everything - albeit not as clearly as he liked. Okura gasped as he recognized the figure tied to the bed.
“Ryo-chan?” he whispered in surprise.
Just then he heard footsteps approaching. Thinking that it was his band mates, he turned around swiftly and pointed his good arm towards the window. But his wide grin fell as he saw whom it was. The occupant of the cabin was no longer hooded. Okura could clearly see his face in the late afternoon sun.
“Tego -“
He couldn’t even register his surprise before his world went black.
