Well, those are just rumors, but Russia might cut off all Russian hosted websites from the rest of the world, so people reckon that LJ will go puff this Friday. Not sure if it's true.
Almost everybody has now switched to DW. Unfortunately, LJ has cut off the sync option, so there's no way to backup your stuff this way.
There's still this here, but it costs money if you need more than 3 years of backup (which we all do) and I haven't tried it myself, so no idea how well it works: https://blogbooker.com/
Actually now that I've had time to read further you're indeed the last of my friends to post about it, but as a result your post was at the very top so it was the first one I read haha. Thank you for the heads up!! I was able to get most my entries using a mix of free BlogBooker and just printing a lot of pages as PDF, and hopefully I can do the rest today. But it would be such a shame to lose LJ, I've never found an alternative I liked...
Haha, I see. Argh, I barely have time to save any more stuff. Just came back from the office and am already about to go out again and tomorrow the same. T_T Maybe I can do some stuff tonight before going to bed. *sigh*
So, I suppose you won't emigrate to DW then? :/

A few LJ communities have also emigrated to DW, but I'm still not sure .... Like many I don't like DW much and LJ ist just LJ, you know? ...................
I've put so much money in here. I just took a screenshot of my stats. ^^; ...... Might post them here later. *sigh*
I also tried to save at least some of my graphics etc. I have like 3 other journals on LJ, but there's no way I can save them. They're not that important, but especially my Japanese journal is so nostalgic. My bad Japanese back then, oh my .... http://densha-onna.livejournal.com/
I haven't really used it much yet, but I already noticed quite a lot of annoying things. E.g. when you browse your f-list it only shows the avatar, but not the username, so at first I don't even know whose journal entry I'm reading.
Also, it's difficult for some entries to get to the "edit" option. Titles cannot be clicked like here on LJ etc...... and there's probably a lot more. ^^;
The biggest problem I see is that even if LJ will stay alive, it will really be dead this time as everyone has emigrated already. :(
I just copy and paste while writing right now... I have started to post the pictures to Flickr now, so at least from now on I'll have them. Same problem as with you... I have had a paid accound forever and always uploaded the images on LJ. I did make one of these pdf books though, at least I have everything together... Added you on DW.
At least it seems to have worked for you with the PDF. I heard a lot of people complaining about it not working, especially after they had already paid for the service .... :(
