Nate Archibald is nervous. He grips at the rose he had plucked from his mother’s garden before jumping into Chuck’s limo when it rolled by to pick him up for school, and had sat through Chuck’s mocking all the way. He leans against the wall next to the school steps, acting nonchalant when a few girls whisper together fiercely as they pass by him. Gossip Girl blasts got around fast.
Then he spots her, with her Snow White skin and her Bette Davis eyes, and he’s struck again by how beautiful she is.
He springs off the wall, determined to put things right.

Blair Waldorf is pleased. But you couldn’t tell from the way she frowns at Nate as he walks over to her. Her heart is already beating double-time after seeing the rose in his hand, but she’s determined to make him suffer a little bit more. After all, hadn’t she cried herself to sleep the night before on his account?
But when he smiles down at her with those beautiful blue eyes, and tells her he’s sorry, she can’t help but smile back - all resolves forgotten.
She walks into class, a rose in her hand, a spring in her step.

Chuck Bass doesn’t quite know what he’s feeling as he watches Blair’s face light up when Nate hands her the flower. If he was anyone but Chuck Bass, he would have said he was jealous.
He had mocked his best friend when he had gotten into the limo with the rose, hoping that it would scare him out of apologising. He hated that the rose had looked so fresh and pretty, with sprinkles of morning dew. If it was winter, Nathenial Archiblad would have had no ready-grown flowers to pluck and give Blair.
Chuck Bass decided that he hated spring.
