No one is making you dress the way you do. Obviously you do it because you know (or now know) that it makes you feel good about yourself. Personally, I miss your pink hair because I know it's a part of you... but that's just me talking.
Otherlywise, I do the same thing. It's all coverup, it's who I am, and yet it's not. A wise girl once told me "you're so quiet sometimes, but you wear such loud, brash fashion statements... it's like you let the clothes do the talking for you." Maybe you need something else to speak for you, in a way that will give you the satisfaction of your pink hair, without the constant pinkness. XD Like, when you need a job. ^^ Why don't you compromise and go for pink streaks instead?
I think most of the people around you like you for you no matter how you look, sure the pink hair and the tea cozy on your head I found it really cute! You are very outgoing and hyper, I find when you dress in the style you love it does show your personality ^.^. Working is a killer for style (unless lucky that they don't care...). That is why I find it hard to buy clothes, because I have to work constantly now and the clothes I love I can't wear to work so lots of my clothes are "work clothes"... Plus I don't have the money to buy the clothes I want since like each piece is like $100! O.o
But if you want colourful hair, maybe if you fined bright coloured hair extentions that clip in. So you can have normal hair for work ^.~
Yeah, I know how it is to have to tone down....I can only dress the way I want to during my free time (which is not a lot), because our professors will not tolerate fashion that is funky. Of course they can't forbid you directly, but if you stand out too much, they'll make you fail. And believe me, they can make everyone fail, no matter how good that person is (and since I'm not good to start with..) So yeah, it sucks that one cannot express his individuality anymore. And as Misake said, clothing of that sort is very expensive. I do have some funky things (that I was lucky to find for cheap), but overall, I won't spend 100 or more $ on something I can't even wear on a regular basis.
I would really love to dye my hair, but I probably will never be able to do that. My hair is so thin and frail, that even blonde streaks would totally kill it, let alone bleach it and put a funky color on it..>_>
I'm really contemplating getting a credit card by the end of this summer and trying to buy those expensive clothes from Japan ^^;;; buuuuut that's real iffy at the moment >.<; for now, I make them myself! whee~!
Yes, unfortunately, this happens. A friend of mine had an eyebrow piecing and a piercing under his lip. Both are just plain silver studs, but this was enough to make him fail twice last semester. And in his first semester he got black hair wiht blonde tips, so the semester after, he even got rid of the blonde tips and his hair is all-black now... They really kill all individuality there. I mean, I once went to class a bit funkier (though still toned down compared to what I wear now) and got of course picked out by the professor. >_> Believe me, it wasn't pleasant and I was overjoyed when that class finally ended after 3 hours. I do not wish to repeat that experience...
and I want more money!! I wanna buy funky stuff from japan!!! But yeah, I *really* don't have that kind of money and I don't have enough time to work...
