Final Print #4: Two Images

Goods news everyone! The Winchester Series is now complete! You can take a look at all four prints here. Okay. Moving on to the best print yet:

This is the whole print, with the total area space of 216 sq inches. This is the biggest of my editions and our goal was to incorporate two images side by side, with either black ink or the red and blue inks. Black seemed a lot simpler because it takes less time to carve everything out onto a wood block.

The top print. I'm sure you recognize this picture from "Shadow," with John trying to fend away the shadows Meg released. This was probably one of the simpler images I carved all semester because there is a lot of black, and not too much line variation.

Bottom print. This image is from good ole "Pilot." It's when the boys run from the Impala on the bridge. I would say it took a while to crave things out because I didn't outline and I had at least five different textures to create the lighting from the headlights of the car.

I would say this is my best print because not only did both images come out well, but I certainly notice my improvement with the process of relief printmaking. Also, this edition has the images working well together, and it tells the story about how evil is always attacking the Winchester. They can keep running, but they can never hide from it. Got an A for the semester...soo WOOT!

I'm not sure what to do with my prints, and I'm debating whether I should be giving them out or not. Just because each edition has a certain amount of prints, I'm kind of reluctant. We shall see. Next thing to look forward to in the fall: Digital Imaging and Silkscreening.
