I was going back and forth between different songs for you, but I think I'm leaning the most towards "A Place To Call Home" from FFIX (sample). As far as sound goes, "A Place To Call Home" has a laid-back and calm sound to it....but there's also something about the tone that comes across as both determined and accepting as well as adventurous and peaceful at the same time. It has more of an orchestral sound to it and is an instrumental song with a slower pace...and it even brings out sorrowful/cheerful/dark emotions depending on how you want to listen and interpret it. "A Place To Call Home" starts off FFIX, so I think your answer to the journey question fits it really well (It might not even seem like that at first-it probably just starts out as finding out there is something I can learn, but whatever it is, I am helping to save the world, no matter where my journey takes me or what I have to face), as does your crossroads answer. There's something very emotional about the message of "A Place To Call Home" that I think fits your

I really like the A Place to Call Home vote for you, but my first thought was Song of Memory from FFIX. Even though the melody is simple, I think it represents a great deal of things throughout the entire game, so it actually has that blend of simple and complex that you want. It's also slow and calm, which I noticed you emphasise a lot in your application - that sense of calm and peace. You also said that overall your story would be about love, and I think the concept of 'memory' ties in very closely to that - memories that bind friends and family. It also has that very dreamy quality that the photo in your application possesses.

A Place To Call Home seems to fit from FFIX!

I considered Terra's theme from Final Fantasy VI and Liberi Fatali from Final Fantasy VIII, in the end I am leaning more towards A Dream that will end sometime from Final Fantasy X. your "Musical" section remind me a lot of this song because is instrumental, you mentioned you connect more to slower songs that has a dark/myystical/romantic mood to it. Plus I think this song is sorrowful/dark and for some reason also your picture (which is lovely by the way!) reminds me of this song, and somehow I get a sense of peace from it. I also like the above votes for Song of memory and a place to call hom for you, but for some reason I think "A dream that will end sometime" is the best fit for you.

I was thinking Memories of Life from Final Fantasy IX. It's haunting, in a way; dark and sad, in a way, as well, but speaks of love and that the love will never die as long as the memories live on. The singer wishes them to live on forever, though she wishes that the one the song is about would be there with her in the physical, not just in the heart, mind and spiritually. It's a gorgeous song, slow and orchestral, though mostly vocal. I just thought it would be perfect for you. :)
