We performed our final concert of the season last night (Wind Ensemble). It was the first concert that I had been REALLY excited for in a long time. One of the trumpet players and I were talking earlier in the day about how we thought our interpretation of the piece was better than several recordings we have heard of it, and that this was going

No matter what happened, you and I both know (as well as tons of other people!) that you are a fantastic oboe player! I'm sorry your performance didn't go as well as you would have liked it to. :(
I'm glad you still have the right attitude about it, though - I'm sure God is working to make you stronger every day with every challenge.
I know there's nothing I can say that will help you through this... clearly you have already put a lot of thought into it. I feel bad that I haven't talked to you since you came down to visit us last quarter... but anyway I hope you feel better about it soon and put just as much work into the rest of your performances!
Anyway, good luck with the rest of this year. Just keep remembering you are almost done with the semester!
love, your sis :)

Don't know if it'd be encouraging or not to know I had a somewhat analogous experience on Friday...
Senior project presentation (even though it's my junior year, I'm taking Senior Seminar). It was like a junior recital in computer science. I was so psyched up. The talk goes pretty well, that is, everything before the awesome demo I spent the entire previous day preparing. I start up the computers to do the demo, and realize that one of the cables isn't plugged in. I attach those, but I fear it's too late. I try anyway, since they seemed to come up OK. No such luck. My time is up; I can't afford to start both of the computers over again.
The super-cool demo, the part of the presentation that I was most excited about, flopped completely. For my senior project. Never again will I have that audience back--I suppose that's the worst part. For once in my life I have a captive audience with more than ten people, and I come out of it looking like a blundering idiot.
So you're not alone. You'll feel better in a couple days... ( ... )

I'm so sorry to see that you have recently experienced a similar disappointment, however good it is to hear from you again. Bah. It seems as though we've both been having difficult times this semester; but I hope that you have also had a fair amount of good that has come out of this year. I'll be home from May 6-12, so if you happen to be around then, call me!! I miss you, and it would be fabulous to hang out again. (=

Next week is exams, and I'm playing Commencement the week after that, so I'll still be here. :( But I will see you again... sometime I'm sure.
Are you feeling any better?
