Your little sister is rocking the (pony)tuft! She's really cute.
What kind of treatments for TB are available in Lhasa? Does China allow the kind of big Western-funded initiatives you see in the Caribbean? Or is Beijing handling this one?
I'm not sure about treatment options in Lhasa... I don't think she's seeing a doctor there, just being in a cleaner, drier environment is helping her stay healthy. A year and a half ago, Pema was really sick ... she thought she might die... and my family and I sent her some money so that she could go to a big, fancy hospital in Delhi to get better treatment, and that's when they found out she had the super-bad TB and she had to take all kinds of medicine (which also made her feel crappy) and she couldn't work for several lotsa months. Then she got better for a little while, but the TB kept flaring up and the doctors told her to go back to Lhasa.
