And then later, at bedtime:
Me: Goodnight, Linus. Sweet dreams.
Linus: You should never give away your most valuable piece! [He's talking about chess.]

Me: Linus, your hair is still soapy.

Linus: But I already rinsed it really good!

Me: Well you need to rinse it again.

Linus: It's so hard!

Me: It's easier in the shower if you wanted to start taking showers instead.

Linus: Ugh. I HATE showers. They are the worst thing EVER.

Me: Really? The worst thing EVER?

Linus: Well, I guess there's dying.

Me: Linus, did you know that you get a three day weekend? And that you get to spend Monday all day with Theresa?

Linus: I already know. My teacher told me it was somebody's birthday. Someone who's dead.

Me: Martin Luther King, Jr.?

Linus: Yeah, that's it.

At dinner tonight:

Linus: Ok, I want to talk about something that's actually serious.

Me: What's that?

Linus: Did you know, that in this place, I think it's like really far away...

Me: Haiti?

Linus: Yeah. Did you know that they had a really big earthquake?

Me: Yes I did know that.

Linus: I want to give them money to help.

Me: Ok, that's a good idea.

Linus has transformed my living room into a pirate ship using a comforter, pillows, most of the dining room chairs, and a makeshift jolly roger flag. Tonight he asked if he could perform a "show" for me. I should have just video taped it, but my battery was dead, so instead I transcribed what he said. Here is his gruesome tale...
