Ive been thinking about marriage alot lately and it seems like all you ever see are broken vows and dashed dreams. Almost every couple I know that's married seems to be either fighting for the marriage or in the process of giving up. Why ( Read more... )

actually,i was talking to brent about the polygamy theories just yesterday morning. and he made a really good point that yes, animal instinct does not include monogamy, but that humans defy instinct in most other situations. defying instinct is what is natural to us, and monogamy is a result of that.

it's the cause of all marriage problems. millions of little girls and boys grow up learning you find some handsome/beautiful/musical royalty member, fall in love and live happily ever after. nobody hears of cinderella finding out her prince has an alternate opinion on gay rights or the death penalty or just will never put the freakin toilet seat down. nope, you're told everything is always rosy. if it's not, don't work it out- you just are with the wrong prince.

I have some neighbors, Greg and Alisa. They are engaged. They are from Minnesota. Alisa was having problems with drinking and holding a job... so naturally they moved to Florida, land of eternal sunshine and constant influx of drugs, which leads to constant partying. A few weeks ago Alisa went for a walk and didn't come back. Greg put out flyers. She was gone for 2 weeks before he heard from her. She had gone to a bar, gotten drunk, and ran off with some guy to Medeira Beach. She claims he left her at a crackhouse and was raped. She put on a mini-skirt with her ass hanging out for my Jimmy and flirted with him while putting down Greg right in front of him. Neither of them have jobs, she's a drunken slut, and he's a moron for putting up with it.

But they're having a problem with going through with the marriage because she doesn't want to take his last name.

Holy Crap.
