~Next Monday at school
“Hey, Kame!” Jin was running after his classmate.
“Huh~?” Kame turned around. Jin grabbed Kame’s arm and pulled him after. They went to the small garden in the school’s backyard. Kame sat down on a bench; Jin did the same thing.
“What’s the matter?” Kame asked curiously. Jin smiled and took his hand.
“You came to see me Saturday night, have you?”
Kame blushed but didn’t say anything. Jin took his face with the other hand and bended closer to Kame.
Kame aggressively turned his head and pulled him away. ”I have a girlfriend already.” He was trying to avoid Jin’s eyes.
“Huh~?!” Jin raised an eyebrow. “That was quick… I’ve lost you from sight only for a while and you already doing this to me?” Jin’s voice got lower.
“What do you mean? You got busy with your cars and I got busy too.”
Jin got a strange look on his face, which seemed to be jealousy.
”Busy with what?” Jin pouted.
“Busy with dating…” Kame tried to make it sound natural.
“Dating who?” Jin frowned and started raising his voice.
“A girl… none of your business.” Kame ended the subject. “Is this all?” he said ironically.
“Hai.” Jin got up and left Kame in the garden. Kame felt a bit guilty; his eyes got wet but he wiped the tear before trickling on his face.
“Is this normal? I’m a guy… how can I feel guilty for rejecting a guy’s kiss?”
Kame shook his head.
“I’m dating a girl, that means I’m normal…does it?” Kame slapped his face twice. “Of course I am! I will definitely take care of my girlfriend without letting filthy thoughts fill my mind.” He got up and walked away.
In the way to the classroom Kame met his girlfriend (Shizuka Shimizu).
“Shizuka-chan…” Kame faked a smile. The girl kissed him and slipped her hand in his hair.
“I missed you so much.” She murmured with an innocent look on her face.
“Uhm…, yeah… I missed you too…” but he wasn’t so sure about that.
Jin passed right behind them. “Wha~?!” he murmured, and continued his way. Kame and Shizuka went in two different ways, each other in his classroom. When Kame entered, his eyes faced Jin’s look. Jin was frowning and intensely looking in Kame’s eyes.
“What?” Kame whispered while heading to his seat.
“Who is that?” Jin pointed at the door angrily. Kame raised his shoulders; he didn’t get Jin’s point. The teacher entered the classroom. During the lesson Jin targeted Kame with his eyes; Kame tried to avoid Jin’s irritating look.
~In the lunch break
Kame was heading to the exit when Jin grabbed his arm and pulled him after.
“Huh~?” Kame murmured.
“Who was that?” Jin asked for explanations.
“My girlfriend…” Kame replied. Jin had his mouth open.
“Shizuka-chan?” he asked shocked.
“Yeees…” Kame pulled his arm out of the grip.
“What’s wrong with that?” He continued with a serious look on his face.
“She’s my ex-girlfriend!...” Jin raised one eyebrow. “She’s a bitch…” Jin added.
“Wha~? How come?” Kame asked shocked.
“You’ll see…” Jin smiled and walked away. Kame stood still for while, he was still puzzled. He shook his head and walked away too.
~After school
Kame got out of the school, heading to the gate; when he saw something that made him freeze. Jin was talking to Shizuka. At first sight this behavior didn’t seemed to be unusual; till the point Shizuka whispered something at Jin’s ear and gently touched his cheek. Jin was tickled and showed a smile. After the short conversation they waved to each other and divided. Neither of them saw Kame.
“What the hell?” Kame murmured. All the way home he was thinking about what he saw and what Jin told him earlier. He started doubting the fact that Shizuka really did “miss him”.
When he arrived home, he took a bath and rang Shizuka.
“Hi, I’m Shizuka! I’m busy or my phone is off, but you can leave a message…” the answering machine answered Kame’s call. He hung up and threw the phone on the floor.
“Wait! I’m probably just paranoiac… her battery must have been very low and she turned it off.” Kame lay down on the bed and closed his eyes. After a while he fell asleep.

“Kame-kun…Kameeee-kun!”
Kame slowly opened his eyes.
“Ohayou~!” Yamapi smiled warmly. He poked Kame’s cheek. “What’s wrong with you? You have slept with your uniform on…”
“Huh~?!” Kame rubbed his eyes and yawned. “It’s already morning?” Kame flinched.
“Ha, ha… just joking!” Yamapi laughed.
“Yeah… you are really funny…” Kame rolled eyes and lay on his back putting his arm on his forehead.
“So, what happened?” Tegoshi asked.
“Nothing…” Kame replied.
“I know something happened… you always fell asleep when something is wrong with you.” Yamapi was talking in a hurry.
“Ok, ok… just stop that! I think Shizuka-chan is just playing around with me…” Kame sighed. Yamapi and Tegoshi got shocked.
“Wha-what do you mean by… playing around? ... Cheating?” Tegoshi shook his head.
“I don’t know what to think… I saw her talking to Jin today, after school… whispering something to his ear; and what’s more annoying is that he is her ex-boyfriend!” Kame became angry.
“And then… when I got home and tried to call her, I got only a <<…leave a message…>>…tsk!” Kame frowned.
“Don’t be so paranoiac, she probably ran out of battery… no need to worry…” Pi tapped Kame’s shoulder friendly.
“I’m not so sure about that Jin thing…” Tegoshi added. “Do you think they are dating again?”
“Don’t ruin the mood, Tegoshi!” Pi shouted.
Kame’s phone started ringing.
“Hai…Moshi-moshi!” he picked up before he could look at the name.
“Shizuka-chaaaan…” Kame got a relieved look on his face.
Pi and Tegoshi were anxiously waiting for Kame to hung up and tell them what she said.
Kame hung up, he had a sober look on his face.
“What? What?!” Pi exclaimed and crossed his fingers. Tegoshi bit his lip.
“She wants to go on a date…” Kame still had that serious face.
“Sooo… why do you have this crushed face?” Tegoshi raised his eyebrow.
“When and where?” Pi interrupted.
“Today… we’ll meet at a cafeteria.” Kame explained. “At 7 o’clock.”
“Well you’d better get ready… its half past 6 and you are still laying on your bed…” Pi commented.
“What~?!” Kame put his hands on his forehead. “Oh, my gosh! I must get going!” he rushed to the bathroom. Pi and Tegoshi chuckled.
~At the cafeteria
Shizuka was waiting at a table. Kame waved shyly. They knew each other for a while but Kame seemed to have a lot of unanswered questions regarding to her.
“Hey, you are just in time!” Shizuka smiled.
“Yeah…” Kame took a seat beside her. She bended and kissed her lips. It was short, but it made Kame blush.
“I was thinking…” Kame scratched his backhead.
“I don’t know much about…” he continued slowly.
“Come! I have to show you something!” Shizuka took his hand and dragged him after.
“…you…” Kame murmured while he was trying to keep his equilibrium running after Shizuka.
She brought him in front of her car. She got in and tapped the passenger’s seat, making sign for Kame to take a seat beside her.
“Where do we go?” Kame shut the door after himself.
“What’s the surprise if I tell you now?” Shizuka winked and started the engine.
“Ok…” Kame said puzzled.
Shizuka’s car was a Mazda RX 8, the color was more like undefined, a dark reddish purple. In the sun it had three different color tones: red, dark red and purple.
Kame seemed to recognize the road.
“Shizuka-chan…”
“Yes…” Shizuka turned her head.
“Are we going at the parking lot?” Kame asked abruptly.
“Sure we do!” Shizuka accelerated.
When they entered the parking lot, Kame got nervous.
“Why did you bring me here?” Kame raised his eyebrow.
“I want you to know more about me.” Shizuka winked and kissed his forehead. Kame was confused.
“What are you going to do?” Kame got out of the car and shut the door.
“I’m going to race.” Shizuka said naturally. Kame froze.
“With who?”
“With Akanishi-kun.”
“Huh~??!” Kame had his mouth open.
“C’mon!” Shizuka took his hand. “He’s gonna be here in no time.”
“This is what you’ve been talking to him about?” Kame continued.
“Hai.” Shizuka smiled. Kame pouted.
“Did he ask you to race?”
“No…I asked him.”
Kame got shocked. “Why?”
“Nothing special…” she smiled.
“Anyway, how long have you been racing?” Kame changed the subject.
“For a long time…” She gave a short and concise answer.
“She sure doesn’t like to speak much about herself…” Kame frowned.
“Akanishi-sama is already here… the race start in 10 minutes… I have to get ready…” Shizuka interrupted Kame’s daydreaming. “I’ll go to my car; you can wait for me at the start.”
“Ok…” Kame nodded.
While heading to the start, Kame saw Jin talking to some boys… they were Koki, Ryo and Hatashi. Kame rushed towards him, grabbed his hand and dragged him after.
“Are you going to race?” Kame raised one eyebrow.
“Hello, stranger!” Jin smiled.
“Are you in a joking mood?” said Kame with a serious face.
“Well… yeah I’m going to race… here… now!” Jin pointed out.
“With your ex-girlfriend? What’s the purpose?”
“It’s private.” Jin finished the discussion.
“Everybody, get ready for the race!!!” a black guy announced.
“Are you going to tell me?” Kame pleaded.
“I already told you it’s something private!” Jin left Kame alone and headed to his car.
Shizuka and Jin aligned at the start. Jin was looking at Shizuka. She was smiling, but she wasn’t looking at Jin. They started their engines.
“Ready…” a girl started the countdown. Jin was smiling and looking forward, at the road. “Set…” the girl raised her flag.
“Wait!” Kame shouted and ran to the front of Shizuka’s car, putting both hands on the car’s hood.
“Shizuka-chan, please don’t do this.” Kame prayed.
Jin’s smiled disappeared when he saw Kame.
“It’s none of you business, Kame sweetie! Now back off!” when she fed the engine, it sounded like a bear’s groan; this made Kame pull his hands back and to recede into background.
“I won’t go easy on you!” Shizuka frowned at Jin.
“There’s no need… I’ll do my best too.” Jin smiled and turned his eyes back on the road.
“Go!” the girl dropped the flag.
Kame hopelessly watched how Shizuka and Jin are disappearing from the landscape, leaving a smoke cloud behind. The crowd was excited.
“I’m so going home.” Kame sighed.
Jin and Shizuka were quickly heading out of the parking lot and into the city. They were smoothly outrunning the other cars and driving to a less crowded road.
Shizuka hit Jin’s side pushing him on the sidewalk.
“Shit!” Jin shouted.
“Baka!” Shizuka enjoyed the moment and sketched a devilish smile.
For a moment she got her eyes off Jin, her rival was heading towards her, surpassing the cars in front of him. Jin waved and increased the speed. He was smiling. Shizuka was caught by surprise and she veered to the left in the last moment. The yaw was so quick that she almost hit the car which passed beside her.
She was loosing Jin out of sight. She made a 180 degree turn and pursued him. Shizuka was riding among the other cars, searching for Jin.
Her cell phone started ringing. It was Jin. She angrily picked it up.
“What?” She frowned.
“I’m waiting for you at the car cemetery.” Jin gave a chill answer.
“Your standards are pretty low.” Shizuka commented. Jin hung up.
“He’s as stupid as when I met him.” She threw the phone between the two seats.
When Shizuka got at the cemetery it seemed like no one was there. She was driving forward, through the mountains of smashed cars.
“Where is he?” She was searching Jin with Her eyes. Suddenly an irritating squeak filled her ears. Jin appeared from the back and pushed her car’s side against the dump mountain. The impact made the car from the top fall. Shizuka accelerated before the car could’ve land on her hood.
“Fuck!” Shizuka exclaimed. She was avoiding the smashed cars, keeping distance from Jin. They were now driving straight, one beside another, separated by a row of cars. The two were heading to a ramp. Jin sped up. Shizuka hesitated first, but then she picked up the pace.
Shizuka was the first who drove over the ramp. Jin took opportunity to cheat and he passed alongside of the ramp. Shizuka wasn’t as smooth as she wanted to be, she landed like a hydraulic car. Jin was smiling.
“Fucking bastard! Cheating as always!” Shizuka sighed and followed Jin who was heading out of the cemetery.
Her phone started ringing again. She was searching for it between and under the seats. She nervously picked up.
“Next stop?”
“The finish line…” she heard a smile in Jin’s voice. He hung up.
Shizuka dropped the phone in her pocket and accelerated. She was quickly outrunning the cars in front of her. She smoothly drifted through the narrow corners.
Shizuka was now near the parking lot …and the finish line. When she entered the parking lot she picked up the pace. Shizuka finally saw the finish line… Jin was there. She angrily rushed out of the car and walked towards Jin.
“How did you get hear so fast? You weren’t even in front of me!” She was complaining in a loud voice.
“I used the backdoor.” Jin smiled. “Now… if you don’t mind… I’ve got to celebrate the winning of our bet. So…” Jin waved and turned around.
“Tsk!” Shizuka murmured with a husky look on her face. She took her car and noisily drove away.
Next morning Kame got a message.
“I’m sorry.
XOXo, Shizuka”
Kame stood still for a while with the cell phone in his hand.
