Alright, so I need advice. Do I break a promise that I made to not talk to people about things or do I not. The only detail that I can say is that this person has hurt me the worst I've ever known and now I know lots of details about it. I'm not sure if my head's big enough to keep it all inside ( Read more... )

that is a tough one. sometimes it helps to talk to someone about what you know, it can help shed some light on the situation and the other person might have some good advice on what you know. it might be worth breaking the promise not to talk, because it can help you heal. you just have to understand this might hurt the other person, and it could hurt your relationship and trust that has been built up with that person.. its a fine line to walk because there really is no right or wrong answer.. isn't being a grown up hard??
hope you are doing well, i have been keeping you in my thoughts!!

My suggestion is to talk to someone who is removed from the situation first, before you talk to someone who may know more. That way, they don't need to know all the details, but they can potentially bring some insight that will help you get better. Good luck!

I finally smartened myself up and got some therapy. It's interesting - talking to a complete stranger does not, I feel, break that promise, since they wouldn't know the person in question and they're required to keep it confidential - and they also are trained to help you work through things and get it dealt with in a healthy way. If there's like counseling services or something like that, or if you go to religious services and trust your pastor/priest/whatever, that might also be good option.

Take care.

Thanks ladies, I appreciate all of the advice. I decided to talk to someone removed from the situtation and I'm happy I did. Otherwise I'm pretty sure my head would have exploded. Also, I finally slept for more than 2 hours at a time! yeah!!!
I hope that things are going well for all of you and keep in touch!

First, I usually stare at a bottle of brandy. Then I put it aside. Then I take it again. Then I put it aside. Then I grab it and slam the thing. Then I forget why.

Actually, everyone beat me to the same advice. So I joke. It's how I roll.

Matt is glad you swung and connected. Then he finished a case of Pabst. Again, how we roll on Dunning Street.
