I am so fucking SICK of being stressed about health care expenses all the time. It is my biggest source of anxiety and the single biggest problem I have in my life

i dreeeeeeam of unemployment. i might make less but oh my god, just to be free for even a few months. i havent been out of work more than 2 weeks in 16 years.
Ever thought of going freelance? You're a Creative and could figure out a way to do it. It would definitely free up your time and is a lot less paperwork.
thatd be great if i had any savings to live on in the meantime. That type of thing takes a long time to get going unless you know people or are really lucky.
What do you mean by "you?" Are you not an American citizen anymore? Are you a UK citizen now? (Lucky bastard) If so, will you sponsor me to move to Europe so I can live in a society that actually has a relatively well informed population and decent quality of life? I'm only half joking. I'm so sick of the hate and ignorance in this country and how angry it makes me all the time. I think my father made a mistake leaving Canada. If anything, he should have moved to England where his father was from.
It's a scary situation. I think a lot of us are just one medical emergency away from becoming destitute. Even with "good" health insurance, I'm drowning in medical bills that I had no choice but to rack up. As it is, I'm not going to get the surgery I need to repair my shoulder because I won't be able to afford it.
I think you should convert this blog post into a letter and send it to John Ensign.
Typical. Instead of an insurance company stepping up and doing the right thing--and more importantly the very thing they are PAID to do--you go without treatment and possibly end up with a shoulder injury that will haunt you for the rest of your life. It's positively barbaric what these companies can get away with and it's the rest of us that ultimately pay the price.
I'm actually working on a heartfelt appeal to Reid and Ensign. Probably should first clean up the language and remove any references to banana ass fucking. :-)
Steve was able to get coverage under Obama's new health plan. He's been "uninsurable" for years now. Check it out? Not sure if it's a state by state thing, but for the first time in over 7 years he's insured. I can't remember the name of the plan he got, but if you want more info I will ask.
If Steve lives in CA, the state has a high risk pool for people with pre-existing conditions who can't otherwise get insurance. Nevada doesn't have this and laws widely vary from state to state.
I am grateful to Harry Reid and Obama for at least making some progress in the right direction. If it weren't for the reform bill, my husband wouldn't even have the option of applying for federal insurance after 6 months. I'm just afraid we're going to lose any headway we have made because of the number of right wing legislators who are so hell bent on repealing health care and being obstructionists to the detriment of everyone else.
There are many health care models that could work and provide decent health coverage for every American in a cost effective way. MA has a model worth examining more closely. We just have to really want to do the right thing. I'm not sure if enough Americans are there yet.
