For a variety of reasons, I will be stepping down as the co-moderator of stilljewish, effective now.
Communities such as stilljewish need moderators who are on the same page policywise, and sadly, that is not close to being the case here.
A community like this can’t just be felt-out as things go. More eloquent people than I have already voiced their issues with the shifting guideline policy, and with the fact that the community seems like it is becoming less like it’s about open discussion and finding ourselves, and more about forcing people to stay in a very narrow set of parameters of behavior. That was not what I signed on for, and not something I am willing to help enforce.
I deeply and wholeheartedly believe in the need for a fannish Jewish community, and I can’t begin to say how heartbroken it makes me that I won’t have the ability to help be a part of that. It’s very clear that stillljewish was founded with extremely different visions, and that unfortunately, the direction that stilljewish is moving in is one that I don’t feel comfortable being a member of, let alone a mod.
