Have you ever had to hurt someone you loved in order to "save" them in any way? If so, how? (If it's not too personal/recent/ongoing for me to ask.)

but I've often been inclined to hurt people I didn't love.

Non-flip answer: I wouldn't recommend doing that.

Yes, I broke it off with the man I loved more than anything. I couldn't make him choose between me and his child. We're still close friends after it all.

I've been through some of the most hear breaking events in the past year. My family has completley turned on me because they have failed to realize that i would grow up someday and change. My beloved and i have been through sure hell with my parents and their condemnation

I didn't want this one guy to get to hurt when I dumped him. So I started being really irritating, to make him lose all interest in me. But it turns out he was so desperate for a girl he just wouldn't break up, and I had to do it! We cried, but boy he was an asshole! I don't know why it even upset me.

Oh yeah, and then there's those times when I have to kick Butch's ass to make sure he understands who's in charge. It injures him a little, but it's for his own benefit.
