Our motor vehicle offices were closed for more than three months and just reopened to endless lines (in 90 degree heat) and chaos. I'm glad you've been able to get your license! And new medical folks and a new medical path to take... that's wonderful progress in your new life in Lawrence. ♥ and *hugs*
The peaceful phase lasted almost no time. Property damage began the first night, and arson and looting the second night; half a billion in property damage had been done four days later. And it doesn't seem as if many people recoiled in horror and stayed home, thinning out the crowds. Events like this make me feel the point of Kipling's "As Easy as A.B.C.," where his whole future Earth dreads the very thought of "crowd-making."
