[Polka didn't know much about how exactly New Year was celebrated in Tenuto, though she had read a bit about both the chinese and the western new year in a book within the Somarium library over the time that she was here.]

I'm not exactly sure what sign I am [she pauses before elaborating] I didn't really pay attention to the years or months, just the symbols.

I guess my favourite animal is a rabbit though [another small smile]

Then you're really lucky that it's the year of the rabbit! I'm lucky, too. The rabbit is an important year for Korea!

Really? It never spoke of that in the books [she seems excited to learn something new] Could you tell me more about it?

The Korean zodiac runs on a cycle of twelve years and then it repeats itself. Every year is a different animal, starting with the rat! It's an old Korean legend that Confucius was holding a banquet and invited all the animals. The rat arrived first, that's why the cycle starts off with the rat. Coincidentally, the rat arrived on Japan's head which is why Japan is no good!

New Year? But isn't it February here?

What's wrong with that? New Year usually falls some time in February. Next year it's supposed to be in January, though.

Not always! Sometimes it comes in January.

Korean New Year, affirmative. Still today, more formally known as Chinese New Years. Zodiac is also identical.
