I'll finish up here, it should take another 20 minutes. I'll meet with the force at the castle entrance. I won't be late.

[At that, Danny receives one of Javert's most severe stares.]

*It's all Danny can do not to crumble into a feeble pile of half-baked protests at the man's powerful stare. Keeping from slouching only by sheer force of will, Danny concentrates on Edgeworth's portion of the screen, pretending as hard as he can that Javert's side doesn't exist.*

I know it's dangerous, but I can help better if I'm with your team.

[Javert breaks his silent, severe stare with a simple question.]

How? [His tone is calm and patient, but firm. He arches a brow.] Are those arms strong enough to carry grown men on your back?

*Danny clamps his mouth shut for a moment, cheeks warming and no worthy response coming. The man is right: considering Danny's stature and obvious ability, the boy is lucky that Javert didn't laugh outright over his request.*

*And why shouldn't he? These are the fruits of Danny's lies. A dark little corner of the his mind congratulates itself at this, but the rest of him merely shifts gears. He's been out of game for too long: he'd almost forgotten that his help never meshed well with systems.*

*With this in mind, Danny's shoulders sag, and he looks away in apparent frustration.*

No. They're not.

[Javert, meanwhile, has his hawkish gaze locked on Danny. Somehow, the Inspector senses something offputting about the boy's response. Frustration rather than defeat? It is an interesting response in a young boy questioned directly about his physical capabilities.

It is strange, to say the least. But Javert says nothing, merely regarding the boy with a swelling curiosity. There's no reason to believe that Danny is capable of more than he appears... is there?]

*It's not hard to fake the beginnings of a sulk, even while studiously ignoring the Inspector's continued gaze.* I'll get started right now.
