*Stares at the screen, looking somewhere between shocked and dazed. After all, sensory overload plus what he just saw? He's barely still dealing with the whirlwind-dream's ride, let alone the content.*

*Puts a hand to the side of his head. The dream is over, but it was so clear. He can almost still feel the phantom impressions of water crowding in, of control being snatched away by the current...*

What... What was that?!

[Javert's jaw tightens at the sound of Danny's voice. Of all the annoying gutter rats, this teenager had to respond. Though on an average day the Inspector was often vaguely amused by his banter with the boy, this day is not off to a spectacular start. He composes himself and fixes a cold, vaguely musing stare on Danny.

Naturally, he still isn't picking up on Somarium's newest dream feature.]

Paris, apparently.

[It was a flat, simple response.]

Are you ill? I will tell Monsieur Edgeworth to prepare a fresh drink for you.

No, I'm, uh, I think I'm fine. But seriously--what just happened here? There was water, and you--or me, or--And the guardhouse, and...*Pushes his fingers through his hair, accidentally standing some of it straight out.* I--You were drowning?

*Rubs his face.* Dude--was that even a dream? Or did I just hallucinate again?

[Javert frowns deeply. Why would the boy think he was suffering delusions? The dream, the vision was all the Inspector's.]

You are either ill, or this is a poor attempt at making a fool of me. Was the subject so difficult to swallow? Now, drink! It will clear your head.

[The silence sure is deafening. The sharp-tongued Javert is so astonished that he is momentarily speechless. That is a very special thing for you to accomplish, Luffy. Very special.]

Not very bright.

Call me Inspector Javert.

[another pause.]

Then I will be certain to place one foot firmly after the other when I walk.

[He's seen a lot of dreams since arriving in Somarium, but nothing quite like this. Because terrible as some of those dreams have been, he's never felt them like this one. Drowning is a horrible feeling, suffocating, he can't breathe-

And then it's over, just like that, and Spain blinks, taking in a deep breath. Maybe it's a pointless question, after all of that, but...He can't help but ask, or be worried about this man that he doesn't even know.]

...Are you okay?

[Javert fixes a flat stare on this man. Another stranger, undoubtedly attracted by the macabre material in the dream. Though the question is, frankly, ridiculous. Javert is as 'okay' as a dead man can be.

There's the faintest of mirthless smirks on his face.]

Hardly different from yesterday.

[Honestly, that doesn't reassure Spain at all. But it's pretty obvious even to him that he doesn't want to give a clear answer. So he hesitates for a moment. And then he smiles.]

Well...That's good, I guess.

[Eyebrow. He dryly quips,]

It is above subsistence, yes.

[It was normal. Boring, even. The only thing that forced him to remain interested was the idea of being the one to push that high and mighty Inspector off of the bridge himself-- but just as he thought that, the wave of sensations hit him and he found it hard to breathe as realization, panic, and the fight for survival raked through every fibre of his being ( ... )

[It is the gasping, the telltale signs of a man struggling for air that snaps his gaze down to his Dreamberry. He has heard from two men now - one, a boy, Danny Fenton, and the other a stranger he has never met before - that they felt themselves in the river. Drowning. Lives extinguishing, as his did.

Javert found that thought discomfiting and repulsive.

But here is irrepressible evidence that it is true, over live communication. The Inspector's gaze grows distant, his chin sinking into his collar. It is clear from a glance that he is not fully there, his mind preoccupied with several converging thoughts at once.

Slowly, he speaks in a muttering firmness that doesn't quite match his distant lack of eye contact.]

You felt it, then.

[He smiled softly-- wryly, even, as he watched Javerts gaze remain distant through his speech.-

Yeah. ... [He coughed slightly, and pulled the Dreamberry towards him with a light frown.]

Is that new?

[Slowly he shifts his gaze to rest on Adachi, frowning.]

Or particular to this. It is a new investigation.
