Heh. This story will be a thread that runs throughout my100songs challenge, so there will be more...as soon as I figure out where to go with it next. Heh.
It was pretty simple, really. He’d failed. Serenity was his boat and the crew on it were his responsibility. That someone was able to sneak on to his ship and play all sorts of twisted games with his crew while its Captain was helplessly trapped in his bunk was inexcusable. His insides had been burning with rage and shame all day at the thought of it and the scalding water was doing nothing to help lessen that particular pain.
Jubal Early made Mal look weak, like he couldn’t do the simple job of protecting his own. It didn’t settle well inside him, especially since the bounty hunter chose the most vulnerable of all of them to cruelly torment. To threaten Kaylee…like that…well, there was death, and then there was something worse. Mal didn’t trouble himself much over which one Early deserved. Not that I blame Mal at all; Early was fiendishly clever in trapping Mal in his bunk that way but you've captured Mal perfectly in those two paragraphs! The essence of him and why I love him so much

I love writing Mal. I feel like I understand him...which, I suppose, is my reasoning behind deciding to write 100 fics featuring him!
I will be continuing this story...as soon as I figure out what comes next...

You've also captured the rhythm of Firefly-speak very well, which is tricky (I could never quite do it.)
Thanks so much for writing them!
