The last time that I was on the Network, I was cursed for the second time in five months. I think some people think it's luck, that I never seem to get cursed, and I guess that's a pretty accurate assessment, since I don't know why else I don't end up cursed. I eat the food and drink the water so it can't be like Persephone, trapped in Hades ( Read more... )

Tamaki seems to be taking most excellent care of 'Mrs Cow'.

Perhaps it's for the best, then.

He certainly seems devoted to her care.

Are you looking for a bedtime story? Thought you were too old for that.

It's too early for that. Maybe a pre-dinner story.

The sun-mother tells the rain spirits and the wind spirits when it should be hot and dry, or hot and wet, or cold and dry, according to her moods. Seasons are dictated by the equivalent of her monthly cycle.

Sounds very naturalistic. Gaia-esque, although I don't think that's actually a word.

You've only been cursed twice?!

Seriously? Where did you get your luck? Can I borrow some?

I have a feeling it doesn't work that way.

You wanted to sacrifice Mrs. Cow to the gods because apparently it was going to seduce women or something. I'd say that was funny, not fun.

Have you ever been lying in bed before falling asleep and paid attention to your breathing? I promise this has a point.

Oh, Pasiphae. She was the Queen of Crete, she was cursed to fall in love with the bull, and gave birth to the Minotaur.

Yes. Sometimes when I can't sleep, I count my breaths.

It's hard to make up myths here when so many of them are... well, real.

How did things go? With the Cretan Bull, I mean.

Which ones are real?

I gave it to Tamaki.

Well, I mean, we don't really need to make up a City pantheon because there are the Deities, and even if they're not as easy to know as, say, the Roman gods, they're there, they talk to us, they make it clear that they're going to keep interfering in our lives. And then there are the others-- Adrastus, and his mother, and the one who called himself the Architect, and I've heard people talk about more but I can't say I really know much about them. And there are people, too, from stories from our world.

Oh! That was the cow in the square before?

Well that's all a kind of mythos on it's own, isn't it?

Yes, that's her.
