I spent my morning trying to mull around solutions for you. What is the appeal for you with MUSHes that you don't get from other online RP venues? I have other friends who play in large-ish free-form-ish play-by-post games on LJ, or mixtures of chat and PbP play in smaller venues. Would those have any appeal to you?
Well, for a start, I don't HAVE any other online RP venuues. I have never tried a play-by-post game, but I suspect I would dislike it as I dislike 30-line multi-action posts on a MUSH, that you must accept in toto, or spend half your next pose editing by saying 'X tried thus-and-such, but it didn't work."
I like the immediacy and the cooperative nature of MUSH, the creativity it sparks in me (when I'm not being stifled by rigid prop rules or playgroup expectations, I mean).
Probably this also exists in other formats, I've just never seen it. I don't know how it works.
I found a new MUSH. I left the other MUSH definitively. I should have known better than to make a parting shot on the LJ page, because they all came unglued at me. Then I removed all associated LJ accounts (deleted 'em) and reset my passwords to gibberish so I can't get tempted ever to log back in
