I never really liked the smell of incense. People were fond of sticking them in a row along the parking spaces between HDBs, and I'd tripped over them on several occasions. Our flat (and the corridors too) would often be filled with lazy smoke spirals drifting over from our neighbours' altars, and on days like the 7th day of CNY and April 5, the ( Read more... )

Personally, I'm not too into that smell..lol. But hey, don't disregard your emotions. Its what keeps you going. Keeps one sane. With the altar thing, even though the supernatural ain't there in our minds, there's a moral right?

HDB = Housing and Development Board

Hm, wouldn't you think, though, that the smoke / smell rising from the sticks would be enough of a warning to stop you from tripping over them? XD

Well, them sticks are about a foot off the ground (and no, that's not at my eyelevel), so the smoke doesn't rise that much higher. And since I usually walk in a, uh, stately and straight-backed manner as befits a queen, I can hardly be expected to notice such trivial things that are so close to the ground. =P
