Delta Airlines = Incompetent
Delayed flights. Everyone goes through them at some point. But seriously, what's up with Delta Airlines? Are they completely incapable of sticking to a published schedule? EVERY SINGLE FLIGHT I've ever been on with them has been delayed! And seeing as they also never fly non-stop to the destinations that I fly to, they also cause me to miss my connection flights, meaning that I have to be re-routed through an entirely different airport!
Take this weekend for example. I was originally supposed to fly from Columbus to Atlanta and from there on to Pensacola. When we arrived at the airport we were told that the previous flight had arrived late and, due to FAA regulations, they had to give the crew 8 hours off before they could fly again. This would cause us to miss our connection in Atlanta, so they put us on the flight through Tampa, instead. This resulted in us arriving in Pensacola an hour later than originally scheduled. Not such a big deal, really; it was only an hour. We didn't have anything going on.
Today, however, is a different story. Now I'm flying back to Columbus, and I have an actual purpose for being there. There is an event going on at the Columbus Convention Center that I am supposed to attend that goes from 11 to 3 this afternoon. My original flight was supposed to arrive in Columbus at about 10:50am. I probably would have made it to the convention center by around 11:30, which is ok. I got a call last night telling me that they couldn't confirm the flight, and that they needed to reschedule me for a slightly later flight, arriving at 11:18am. Not ideal, but okay...I can deal with that.
I arrived to check in this morning to find that my flight has been delayed for an hour and a half...for the SAME REASON as my flight here! This would again cause me to miss my connection flight altogether, so they again re-routed me through Tampa. However, I'm not going to arrive in Columbus now until 1:30pm. I will be LUCKY to be at the convention center for half an hour before the whole thing is over.
I'm furious, as you can probably guess. I can see why Delta is going bankrupt. They are utterly incompetent. I will never fly on this airline again.
