Adventures in the Catskills, Part 4

We came back from the overlook and stopped by a fire tower. The sun was almost down and it was starting to get very cold up on top of the mountain.

Susan elected to stay at the bottom and watch my bag as I went up into the tower.

Since the tower was made out of metal compasses would not work in or around it. This map table is aligned so that they can survey the surrounding land and know exactly what they were looking at.

ooohhh.. pretty.

This is the ruin that we had seen earlier. The transmission tower unfortunately ruins the ambiance of the place. By this point my fingers were numb and it was starting to get dark, so we headed back down the mountain. But first susan took some more pictures of fungus.

After an hour of walking in the dark with a flashlight we made it back to the car. Then back to Albany for some hard earned fish sticks and onion rings.
