Snitches get Stitches

I'll admit it, there was some ice on the sidewalk around our house. Some of the neighbors use a snowblower on parts of our sidewalk (unasked), which then compresses the snow so that we can't shovel it up, the other parts got left in a similar fashion since there didn't seem to be much of a point once this was done. A couple of warm days then ( Read more... )

Ah, the joys of being a homeowner... firelily February 6 2009, 17:01:54 UTC
It's also kind of bullshit since tomorrow it's supposed to get up towards the 40s, which means everything will melt anyway!! People couldn't have just waited for some nice weather to melt it?

And yeah, people are bitchy and cowardly at the same time. They're not going to ask you directly to do something, they're just going to call the authorities on you. Clearly there's only one way to get revenge in this type of situation...wait til the summer and then have annoyingly loud BBQ parties. We could even have a party where we play only the most annoying 90's dance music all day. Then again, that'd pretty much be a punishment for us too.

I know. When I came home on Thursday I noticed it was getting icy. I figured if I put salt on it, it would just be even more slippery, and then I saw it was supposed to be in the 40's on Saturday. Seemed to make sense to wait until then. Apparently I was mistaken.

Hopefully you won't let this little incident make you think less of the neighbors. You never know who's the crotchedy one of the bunch, so just give everyone the benefit of the doubt. :)

Further developments point to this being even more true than you realize. Apparently there was a Neighborhood Association Meeting last night, which we were not invited to :(, and one of the topics was traffic and safety concerns.

I believe that the entire neighborhood is out to get us.

Now I don't feel bad about pouring water on everyone's steps.

This is really one of those situations that could have been handled so much more appropriately if someone with a shred of common decency and a backbone was involved and had just spoken with you or Susan personally. Now you're left with a nagging suspicion whenever you pass someone in the neighborhood if they're "the ones" and plotting just retribution. Oh yes, quietly plotting...

Oh, whoah now...there was a neighborhood meeting and you weren't invited?? How'd you find that out? Who exactly gets to be in this "neighborhood association" and why aren't they letting everyone be in it? That's total BS.

Hehe, it must be a theme of the street. When I lived there the landlord didn't clean up the ice for a couple of days. We got a notification from the post office stating that they were refusing to deliver mail until the ice was taken care of.
