Westboro Baptist Church snubs downtown Albany

So the Westboro Baptist Church (a British Anti-smoking group if their website godhatesfags.com is to be believed) was supposed to protest at Albany High and the SUNY building in downtown today. This is the same group that protests when The Laramie Project is produced. They get permission to protest and then don't show up, just to get people riled up. It's a common occurence. It happened while I was in Athens and we did Laramie Project.

That makes no sense. It brings out people who will protest against them, but not get their message out. I don't know who god hates now, and got a message of tolerance and gay pride. It is counter productive.

But then I suppose that this isn't the smartest group that we are talking about.

They hit AHS on Thursday, and delayed things too. After that, they mosied down to City Hall, and found themselves surrounded by about 100 protesters of them, to the about 10 of them. And mounted police. Eventually they were booed away.
