Waxing Geekical...

I just finished watching the final episode of Enterprise. It makes me very sad that Star Trek is now going to be off the air for the first time in 18 years - which is how long the break between The Original Series and The Next Generation was. I've been watching it religiously for 15 of those 18 years, which means that I've been a Star Trek fan ( Read more... )

The end result is that there are individually good episodes, but the show can lack overall cohesion, and in Star Trek, the story needs cohesion.i have to say that i disagree-- i'm only up to season six of DS9 right now, but am thrilled to see (finally) a ST with a *true* story arc. I think one of the reasons I didn't watch when it was first on was b/c the shows *don't* really make sense as stand-alones (at least not right now), but taken in its context, and watching the complete linear progression, the storylines are far stronger and more cohesive ( ... )

Keeping the thoughts going...

I fell away from DS9, even though I felt it was a better series than TNG, because it just seemed lame after watching Babylon V. Voyager left me absolutely cold, and while I enjoyed Enterprise, it was still Trek, and Trek is just second rate. I would rate the series, worst to best: Voyager, TOS, Enterprise, TNG, DS9. Though the battle for second place is REALLY tight.

But Trek at its best pales next to Babylon V, and Babylon V at its best pales next to Firefly. I DO NOT WANT Trek: Firefly, I want FIREFLY. (Best TV show EVER, period. But my tastes are a bit weird.)

This should tell you something: Best Trek Episode ever: TNG: The Most Toys. Best Movie: The II/III double feature.

person I wish would have appeared in a ST episode: Alan Alda

Ilana, you're getting dangerously close to the need for an intervention, here.

Not being quite the junkie you all are, it appears, I'll go with the following:

Best TOS: City on the Edge of Forever
Best TNG: Either "Sarek" (look, real acting!) or Darmok
Best Movie: IV.
