Fred's an asshole.

So my company decided to push Fred on us. I think Fred is either an idiot, an asshole, or a retiree with brain damage. But apparently he's the new name in corporate optimism. So, in response to the self-help shlep, I wrote this...

My God, I am sorry. May Freddie die a horrible horrible death.

Holy. Crap. First they push a bunch of morale-crushing new policies down your throat, doing everything they can to turn you into interchangeable cogs in the machine, then they come in with this bullshit AT THE SAME TIME?! I swear, if I saw this on TV or read it in a Dilbert comic, I'd say it was too implausible. That's just... Astounding. Astounding and baffling. My dad always told me, "Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by incompetence." But I just can't see this level of magnificent, monumental stupidity coming about by mere chance. Someone, somewhere had to have planned this all to go down at once, and THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA. I'm seeing some HR executive somewhere in his 500 square foot corporate office, behind his mahogany desk with his unused 27" flatscreen monitor and Bose sound system tuned at exactly the level that annoys his neighbors without allowing them to hear it well enough to enjoy the music, laughing his ass off right now. The mind reels.

The mind does reel. I think it's stuff like this that keeps Scott Adams in business. Also, have you ever heard anyone use the phrase "Too bad to be true"? :)
