My mom and I went to Naples to visit our relatives on Monday. I had woken up that morning to call AT&T because they had a question about my web order. I had already spent about 2 1/2 hours over the weekend on hold without ever speaking to anybody, so I decided I would wake up early and call. The little note on their website said to call after 6 am CST, so I started calling 5 minutes before that hoping they'd open early. 35 minutes later, I figured there was something wrong since it kept saying their office was closed. I called customer care and asked what the deal was, and the lady said they probably meant 7 AM CST. Sure enough, I finally got through when the time was right. Still, their fault for instructing people to call at 6 AM CST. Anyways, the message about high call volume was played immediately when I got through. I found that hard to believe, but figured it wouldn't be that long of a wait. While I was waiting, I was really starting to feel sick. I was getting cold and had some body aches, but figured it was from playing football and basketball the day before. I was kind of dozing off waiting on the phone. 20 minutes later, the elevator music and friendly AT&T recorded messages turned into ringing, followed by an actual human being on the other side. I gave her my account info, and while I was waiting, I was literally overcome by a feeling of coldness. My teeth were chattering uncontrollably, and I was shivering a lot. It wasn't really that cold in my room, so I didn't know what was going on. Anyways, I asked the woman what their question was, resolved that issue, and then said they needed to fix their message about opening an hour earlier than they actually do. After this, I decided I would go back to sleep.

I finally got out of bed around 1, and still wasn't feeling right, so I took some Tylenol Cold. I felt a lot better, and I even drove the car to Naples. I was feeling pretty good for the rest of the day, just a little tired, but nothing like earlier. I took some more Tylenol Cold at dinner. We all watched a movie that night, Santa Clause 2. Nice little movie. I went to bed around 11 I think. This is where things got really uncomfortable/strange. I couldn't get comfortable. I had a headache. My throat was scratchy, where every time I tried taking a deep breath, it would tickle and I would end up coughing loudly. It was hard to get a good breath in. I woke up throughout the night in discomfort. Adjusting didn't seem to help much. At 3 AM, I went downstairs and took some Tylenol Cold Night Time, but at this point it seemed like the Tylenol wasn't helping anymore. I think my cousins got up around 8 AM or so. I remember my 17-month old boy cousin, Adam, plopping down on my face at some point, which was hilarious, but I wasn't able to laugh, I was half asleep. I took some more Tylenol around 9:30, and got out of bed at 10. Throughout this whole thing, my appetite was pretty regular, so I ate breakfast and everything, but all I wanted to do was lay down. At this time, a fever was now present. 103.7 to be exact. Coincidentally, Adam was scheduled to have his 18-month shots at the doctor on this day, so my aunt asked if I wanted to go. I thought it would be a good idea. We got there around noon, and I remember it being kinda surreal, like I was in a trance or something. When I was talking, it didn't feel like I was talking, it felt like I was listening to somebody else talking. When the nurse took my temperature inside the office, it was about 99.3 I think. Later, the doctor took a look and said he didn't think it was the influenza flu that's going around, but he thought it was some kind of respiratory flu, and if my symptoms were to change, to call him. For the time being, he suggested ibuprofen and Tylenol. So later on, we got some of that. When we got home, I went upstairs and slept some more. I was sleeping with jeans and my jacket on, and when I woke up a little later, I was really hot. The thermometer read 103 something again. After dinner, I went and laid on the couch and fell asleep there, again in jeans and a jacket. When I woke up, and my relatives saw me, they said I was really red or something, so my aunt took my temperature again. This time it said 105. I was like "What?! That can't be right. That's like, beyond the regular limit or something" She took the temperature from my other ear, and it said 105.7. This was pretty scary to me, and I think they were, too. They suggested I take a cool shower. I talked to my dad before taking a shower, and he thought I should go to the emergency room if I really had a fever of 105.7. First, though, I went and took a shower, tried to do a cool one but I couldn't handle it, and I made it a little warm, maybe a little too warm. After my shower, I was "down" to 103 again. My aunt called one of the ladies that works for the doctor I saw, and she recommended rotating Tylenol and the ibuprofen every 3 hours, so I started doing that. My mom and aunt also decided to stick wash cloths in ice cold water and apply them to my forehead until the fever went down. So, like 3 hours of this, the fever was down to around 101 something, I think. As for the emergency room, the lady said that they wouldn't do anything there except send me home and tell me what I could do to make the fever go down. After taking some ibuprofen at 1:30 am, I went to sleep. I woke up around 5:45 AM and I noticed that my shirt was feeling kinda wet. Then I realized the bed underneath me was pretty wet. I woke my mom up and asked why my shirt was wet, lol. She was still half asleep and said she didn't know, but I decided I would go get a dry shirt from upstairs. I also decided to find a dry sleeping place. Later in the morning, my aunt explained that I had sweated the fever out, or as my dad called it later, the fever broke. All the times I had fevers when I was younger, I don't remember them ever breaking. I guess those were pretty minor fevers I had back in the day. So, even though my fever broke, I still wasn't feeling that great. And this was my cousin Carina's 9th birthday. I still had a headache and pretty bad cough, and I still had a slight fever and chills. I laid around some more on the couch. I was able to go outside and eat pizza with the kids, but then I went and laid on the couch some more. I felt bad, it being my cousin's birthday and all, and us spending 2 nights there, and I really couldn't do anything with them, and on her birthday and all. So, we left around 3:15 or so because we were going to try to go to my other relative's house for Christmas Eve dinner. I slept most of the way home. When I got home, to my completely surprise, there was a box lying in my patio. I immediately thought it was my new phone, and it was! I was excited, couldn't believe it got here on Wednesday after talking to the lady on Monday, I thought I'd be lucky if it got shipped before Christmas, and here it was, already in my hands. I opened it and looked at it, was gonna call the new account number to activate it, but they were closed. Anyways, I changed and then we went to my aunt and uncle's for dinner. I didn't eat much at dinner because I had eaten a lot for lunch. Again, I wasn't feeling great, and I spent about half the time there laying on the couch, too. They suggested taking all these different medicines and an antibiotic in order to fight what I had, so I ended up taking the antibiotic home with me, and I've been taking that since then. I've also been taking the ibuprofen, since that seems to work the best for me right now. On Christmas morning, the first thing I did was ...... took my temperature. 101.1 degrees. My mom and I exchanged gifts, then I went and laid down in my bed again until my dad called. Originally, I was gonna meet him and my step-mom in Sebastian, where her family was having Christmas, but we decided it wasn't a good idea since I was still sick and all. As the day went on, I was really starting to feel better. Around 1:30, I decided to plug my phone in and start charging it. After it charged up, I turned it on so I could transfer phone numbers from my old phone to the new one. I thought it was kinda weird that it said AT&T Wireless on the main screen. I tried calling the number with my old cell phone, and the new one started ringing! I wasn't expecting that, after all, I hadn't even activated it yet. Turns out, it was already activated when it got shipped I guess. So that was cool. Now I'm just waiting on the faceplate I ordered, which supposedly has been shipped, but when I enter the tracking number on USPS's website, it says something like they're still expecting the package from the sender. So I'm keeping an eye on that, don't really know what's up.

I saw Bowling for Columbine tonight for the first time. Interesting movie, never thought I would watch it, but adamleisy was saying that it was good, so I gave it a chance. My response to it, and I think I'll end this long entry with these final thoughts, is this. How can all these other countries, we'll take Canada for the purpose of specificity, have so few deaths from guns, without any type of gun control? 7,000,000 guns in 10,000,000 homes in Canada, you can buy ammunition at Walmart just like in the U.S., yet ... only 165 deaths by guns last year in Canada, compared to 11,000+ in the U.S.? How?! Mind boggling stuff.
