Antbody know anywhere decent to get a bit to eat near Wood Green Cineworld? Nothing fancy (obviously in Wood Green) but something a step up from Wetherspoons would be nice...
There's a Nandos right by Cineworld if you like your chicken cheap & cheerful & not necessarily ethically farmed.
If you carry on up Green Lanes from the Tube station there's a reasonable curry house (Paramount, I think it's called) and a little further up still, a Carribean cafe called the Brown Eagle, that does good curry goat & other spiciness.
Apart from that the only decent pub food I can think of is at the Salisbury, down past Turnpike Lane station.
Or if you just need a cheap & filling snack before a pint before the cinema, across the road from Wood Green Wetherspoons is a Mr Bagel - they do good salt beef bagels and jerk chicken bagels, also saltfish & akee bagels, and vegetarian options. That would be quick and tasty and still leave time for a pint in the 'Spoons.
ps don't let your defences down and accidentally be wafted into one of the 10000000 fried chicken places abounding outside WG tube ..... eww.....
There's a couple of oriental cafes down Green Lanes on the same side as the cinema - have eaten in them when circumstances dictated, and they were OK, but that's not necessarily a recommendation.
pps Nandos is by the tube station/"HollyWood Green" - don't know if that's the same cinema as 'Cineworld', I know there's another cinema in the shopping mall.
In return, can you recommend anywhere particularly decent but relatively inexpensive near Stokey? I'm fond of the Mexican there, and one of the Indian restaurants on Church St, haven't eaten anywhere else near the High Street though, and would like to have something yummy before pre-SH5 cocktails.
I would highly recommend Yum Yum's thai restaurant, especially the pumpkin curry. They even have a very impressive cocktail menu, so you don't even have to move to have cocktails after!
Yum yums yes- but not that cheap. They do a good value lunch special however and often feature on, uhhhh, that website you can get cheap booking off-of. Name, name, name... Als?
JmC And Booths on Church street is nice and you can sit outside
Chris we were there last weekend to see Indiana Jones - we went to a really late showing though and had already eaten, hence I didnt notice the eating establishments. There are plenty in the shopping centre: as well as well as Nando's there is a Yo sushi and an Indian I seem to remember. Tim (who lived in halls round there) also mentioned a ok, extremely cheap Chinese cafe type of place. Cant remember what its calledd and it nowhere near fancy. I am starting to think this comment isnt very helpful! :( xxx
