Twitter in point shocker!

The Revolutionary Guard in Iran have announced a crack down on bloggers and, since Twitter is now one of the few avenues left open where people can talk about what's really going on and organise dissent, users outside Iran are urged to set their time/locaton to "Tehran gmt +3.30" to make finding Tweeters who are actually there more difficult.

FWIW, this is not likely to acheive anything. The RG will only be able to find twitter users who leave personally identifying information in their twits or profile, or by monitoring local network traffic for twitter traffic (probably primarily through monitoring of the Iranian mobile networks for text or data tweets).

I believe they already did shut down mobile networks, it's that they're trying to find Iranians who are using foreign proxy servers.
