Fear for religion itself is not what is distressing to me. If the communists in Russia could not stamp it out, this won't either. Rather, it's that these are higher-ups in the profession I am looking to go in to. It's that if I choose to do be open about myself, I am automatically at an almost insurmountable handicap. But so be it, with God all things are possible.

I think that what is happening is that the rational people in ANY camp (this goes for science, politics, religion, you name it) are never heard from.

Honestly - is a story about a scientist who also believes in God that news worthy? Not really - there are too many of us. Just like you rarely hear from the moderates in this country -- Its when you find the extremeists that the general public gets interested...because things are different and a lot of people are drawn to controversy.

This is one of those things that is at once both distressing and comforting. So I'll focus on the comforting aspect. Thanks. :)

I think this is why you need to continue being a scientist, my dear. I think Ian Baucom (sp?) had good advice for you.
