I don't like being told that either. I feel like I am just doing something every human does

I dislike it too, it makes me feel like my action was somehow cheapened by the fact that it was what I "should" do. If I didn't do something for a specific person I don't think that their "proudness" of you, is really theirs to give.

Cheapened is the word, yes.

I suppose they feel that the whole thing is out of character for me probably because I'm not as serious as a normal(?) adult. I guess?

And when I had to go do jury duty, they were proud of me then too.
