"Last week the Internet was abuzz with a letter allegedly sent from Bette Midler to George W. Bush, criticizing his plan to amend the U.S. Constitution to prohibit gay marriages. “I believe that there is something fundamental about finding another person on this planet with whom you want to build a life and family, and make a positive contribution to society,” the note said. However, the New York Daily News reports that the moving memo was a hoax. “It’s a beautifully written, heartfelt, and impassioned letter,” Midler told the News. However, “I am not its author.”"
