What the Dickens? (Ugh!)

I first tried to read a Charles Dickins book when I was in year 5 and picked up A Tale of Two Cities. I rather quickly found myself getting bogged down in it and gave up. I was supposed to read Great Expectations at uni but I had two much else on and the book was huge but I did watch a five hour BBC adaptation. I've enjoyed films of his works( ( Read more... )

I made four Amis related purchases at Borders this week. A book with a Martin Amis quote on the cover, a book with a Kingsley Amis quote on the back, a newspaper featuring a tribute to JG Ballard written by Martin Amis and a book by Jane Austin who was a formative influence on young Martin.
