There's just a huge range of cool stuff. :D I feel sort of glee-stricken that I get to be part of it. Other than that, not much going on--the usual. It's cold as hell here. Getting ready for the holidays.

I'm happy that your payments will be less! I used to work with someone whose value DOUBLED in a year and she was all happy and "I'm rich hahahaha" until she got her tax assessment so good thing it's not worth so much??? IDK you probably don't pay crazy property taxes like we do.

Heh. Unfortunately, tax assessment and appraisal are two different things, and completely unconnected. We do pay a fair amount in real estate taxes, but it's all covered by an escrow account that the mortgage company manages, so I pay it as part of the house payment every month.

And just to add to the fun, last year, my tax assessed value went down $10,000, but my taxes still went up.

Which, bzuh? I am not anti-tax--I like roads and street lights and fire stations and DMV offices that have full staff. It just seems odd that the assessment would go down and the taxes go up. And I would like to know that the hotshots in the McMansions in Redmond also had a tax increase. But I doubt it. *sigh*

Heh. I'm pretty sure she'll like it--hopefully you won't have to. Aren't poinsettias poisonous?

If your home is appraised at a value but assessed at a different value, you can use the appraisal to say you don't owe as much in taxes. I'm not anti-tax, I love my healthcare but fair is fair. I hear you about the McMansions. This spring it was the people who were I WILL BUILD MY HOUSE ON THIS UNSTABLE HILL 'CAUSE THE VIEW IS AWESOME. OH IT HAS FALLEN DOWN, PLEASE BE WITH THE GOVERNMENT MONEY TO PAY FOR IT KTHKSBYE.

According to my crazy boss, points are not poisonous. OTOH he also said that about those ornamental peppers. Hmmmm...
