Worldcon...Interrupted

After 3 great days at Yellowstone being surprisingly active and healthy at high altitude (6-9,000 feet), and 3 days in Denver at slightly lower altitude, my crazy gastrointestinal system did me in again. 1.5 days into Denvention, my body started forcefully removing its contents, making it impossible for me to take in enough liquids to compensate ( Read more... )

I don't want to see you getting that sick, that often, on business time, either.

Fred here:

I wanted my ChrisO hug & never got it.

I heard from someone at the Reg desk on Saturday that there were 14 Con members in the hospital with some form of dehydration, that he knew about. & if you've been keeping up on the Harold Harrison saga you might consider yourself lucky. He never even made it to the Con & is STILL in the hospital in Denver.

I really don't like my friends being sick.

Yep, you are one of the folks I missed seing because of my hospital stay. I missed getting a Fred hug. Yes, I know about Harold and count myself lucky, but I'm still unhappy about missing so much of the con.

I don't like the conrunners lumping me with the congoers who were in the hospital due to dehydration. I was dehydrated due to out going fluid, not because I didn't drink enough water. I couldn't keep water in my body.

I know to drink enough water in a dry climate. I lived in the California desert for 3-4 years.

I saw Robin briefly on Thursday. I'm sorry I missed you.

Ugh, I'm sorry. Spending Worldcon in the hospital is nobody's idea of fun.

I'm glad I got to see you the one day, though.

I'm just very glad that you recognized that it was a problem for the doctors. So many people are too heroic, and end up in worse shape.

I was very lucky to be one of the folks to get to see you, and yes, give you a big hug!
