I guess I'll make a post. I've been feeling more than a little lazy about it lately, but it's been awhile since I updated on my life. It's been chaos, and not all good chaos, but I really would rather not go into the bad and just focus on the good ( Read more... )

There are some careers that really do change you--or threaten to do so. Education is one of them. You see so many fucked up things in education it is hard to not become jaded. My coworkers and I teeter that line every day, but I find that being solid in my own convictions and why I go to work every day gets me through it.

In the end, these people are adults and they make their own decisions ... even if they are poor ones.

Kudos to you cause I honestly don't think I could just sit by and just accept it. Some of the stuff I heard from one of my master teachers made my blood boil, and that's not easy to do. Penting up such rage and not being allowed to even really criticize would just...

Well, I don't think I could handle it, whether they're adults or not.

It is very frustrating. Working with the college population you get it on both ends. Administratively there are many things which make you shake your head, and with the students so many students do not take their education as seriously as they should. It can be a difficult day-to-day thing, but in the end my goal is to be someone who enables students who want to succeed to be able to succeed ... and for those who don't, to plant a seed for the future when they realize an education is something they need.

The kids are fine. The kids I'm sure I could handle. They might get frustrating at times, but my favorite time in education was when I actually got to teach lessons. I enjoyed that so much. The co-workers are what I'm pretty sure I couldn't.

C'est la vie!

The name looked really familiar to me for a bit until I remembered something about that artist.

He's Alexander James Adams now. :D

That's her replacement. Heather Alexander is still Heather Alexander, but she retired and took on an heir, who's Alexander James Adams.

But yes, I love her work! I haven't gotten any of his work yet. I need to look into it.
