I was in Hiroshima a litte bit ago and while visiting a museum, saw a wristwatch on display. Looking like any other period watch, this was significant because its hands had stopped at the exact time of the bomb being dropped. Certainly an important historical artefact. However, I soon realised that it would have been around someone's wrist at the ( Read more... )

Hey...
I enjoyed reading your poems this week, it was a great effort and liked the rhyme you incorporated in both pieces. It was also interesting to read your thoughts about the watch in Hiroshima and how you were contemplating the nature of time, something that is a puzzle and almost a given, but most don't stop to think about. Another thing, how was Hiroshima ? I just came back from overseas so It was interests me about other people's trips.
Good work with your entry this week ... Jo

Great poem. I havn't had the chance to go to Hiroshima yet but I've been to other parts of Japan. I really want to visit this museum now.

Finishing my comment from before it was nice how you looked at the watch. Although it was disturbing it just goes to show how much we should appreciate the time we have.
There was a Japanese cartoon by a very famous Japanese animator about the Hiroshima bombing. I think...
Its quite a disturbing movie but it was very good because it was an interpretation of what the artist felt about that moment. You should check it out.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of you posts not only this one! This one in particular touched me because in a strange way i thought the idea of the watch stopping at the exact time of the bomb was a beautiful concept. It sounds horrible but i think it can be used as a symbol to remember in time not only the people who died but everyone who was impacted. The fact that their hearts stopped ticking along with the watch is a poignant reminder that we should live life to its full because we never know when our watch will stop ticking.
