It was good, particularly the actors I highlighted. The women actors were shamefully weak though - every one of them either under or overacted, which was quite surprising with the strength of the reviews. A friend of mine at work saw Sir Ian McKellan in the role some 35 years ago and I can't help but suspect he did it rather better...

I'm glad it was good and your worries were for naught. :) I'm jealous, naturally, of you seeing David Tennant! The Barbican sounds like a badly designed labyrinth though!

The Barbican was just mad. Who designs a building so it's as difficult to get to and navigate as possible? Unless you're building a tower for the Dark Lord, of course. I suspect they used the same bloke that did Sauron's tower...
