Bit of an eclectic update today

Jun 30, 2006 09:33

I've been working on our California tour for the past couple of days and, after 235 revisions (well it certainly feels like that many), I've finally got everyone's agreement and ( the route is settled: )

Sounds like a good tour. Too bad you don't go to SF though. Death Valley is very hot and Yosemite is gorgeous.

If you have some time in Vegas try to got to The Valley of Fire (it's nearby), it's really pretty.

I've been working on my Tanzania tour for 2 weeks now! We've got most of the trip settled too after 12588888 revisions!

I have camera issue too, because there's no way I can take safari pictures with my small digital camera. I think I need a digital reflex with changing objectives and a telephotolens but it's expensive and I'm already broke.

The folk over on http://www.dcresource.com are brilliant if you want a recommendation.

I don't know how you do these tour trips! The planning of this one has driven me crackers (well, more crackers than I already am!)

I'll certainly give the Valley of Fire a look. Thanks for the rec.

Recommendation for dining in LA:

It's lovely. Try to book a table at one of the fireplaces outside. You have a beautiful view of LA and the Hollywood sign. And the food is nice, too. :)

Thanks Tanja. Is that close to Santa Monica?

Hm... USA-close or Europe-close? ;-) Actually, I have no idea. It's in Burbank. I've been staying with a friend in Burbank and it was about 10 minutes from her place to the restaurant. And we've also been to the pier in Santa Monica, which was about a 45 minute drive away from her place. But it also depends on the time of day that you choose to hit the road... So it might be much closer to reach depending on where you are in Santa Monica and weather there are traffic jams or not.

My Papa owns a digital camera from Canon, but I don't know which one. It's a very good one, though. My sister, the photographer, wanted to buy one as well.

I'm still doing the roll film thing with an Olympus Mju, and love it.

I think Canon is winning in the recs...

I've got a Canon Ixus and I'm very happy with it, but the Powershot seems to be a bigger model, so can't say anything about it.

I think the reason the Powershot to recommended was because I want scenic shots and football shots of MiniLinnit. I think.

Your pics come out really well though, don't they? And, you took some really great storm pics not long ago too. Have you done any big scenic shots?

My camera has got a 'kids and animals' setting which should also work for football pictures, but that's definitely hit and miss as the camera doesn't react as fast as a traditional motor one. For these things I always need to fiddle around with the settings and then the results are okay but it's difficult to catch a specific moment because you need to anticipate it and basically hit the button before it happens ( ... )
