Sadly, my suitcase is not. It decided to take a little trip all by itself, and should arrive later today. I hope the flight attendant is giving it cookies and a pair of wings

Thank goodness for power outlets and laptops, is all I can say. I hope you travel with DVDs. I fear these kinds of snafus and therefore always travel with DVDs. I figure there's nothing that can't be made better by a judicious application of SG-1 or Starsky and Hutch.
I don't have DVDs, but I do have some episodes on a portable hard drive, so I can always watch the McShep. And hey, LJ is always good for fic or polls or other interesting stuff.
I am alive, although just barely, and now I have to go back to work. I don't wanna!
Ergh. That's horrible. The least they could have done was put people up in a hotel. Though I suppose if the whole airport is shut down, rooms might not be available to be had.
Sorry the trip home was terrible, but you're right, the conference was fun.
I think they'd exhausted their supply of hotel rooms earlier in the day. I just don't get why they weren't better organized, since they knew all day long that people were going to be arriving with no place to go.
The least they could have done, actually, is provide hot beverages or a snack. The airport pretty much shuts down late in the evening, so there's no place a stranded soul can purchase tea or munchies.
Sounds like you had kind of an ordeal getting home! It seems strange that we flew out of Ft. Lauderdale Monday evening on a direct flight to Calgary and made it through fine. We had to snag a hotel overnight before our flight back to Saskatoon, but that wasn't so bad. We thought about toughing out overnight at the airport, but it didn't seem worth it. I totally sympathize.
It was so great to see you at the conference again. Every year I feel like I get to know people a little better. *hugs*
I'd imagine the direct flight just soared right over the weather systems. Actually, I don't think it was the weather as such, but the impact the weather has on the logistics of air travel. For one thing, they have to de-ice all the planes, and that seems to add about fifteen minutes per flight; I watched them do it in Calgary once, and they had a line-up of huge planes waiting for the de-icing machine to get to them.
It was wonderful to re-meet you too, although I didn't do as much squeeing over your fanfic as I'd intended; I'll have to make up for it next time you post (hint hint). I love matching up names and LJ names and faces.

Glad you made it back alive!
