My first Mp3 was Bad Company... Something about you. The album it comes on was insanely difficult to find, and it was the song that most brought happy memories to me about my dad.
One of my friends had a cdr and burned that and lots of NIN for me.
First video too!chrisssJanuary 16 2004, 22:09:17 UTC
The first video I downloaded was the Director's Cut of Closer (because I saw it at my friend's work) back in Feb 1998. Surprisingly the 18MB Video file would play full screen no problem on my machine but the machine couldn't cope with MP3s. I can't even remember how I was able to download that file on dial-up, but it was a very interesting video and I still do watch it from time to time.
I actually haven't downloaded that many mp3s. My computer now has no soundcard. But back when I was in school in Oregon, I had a Mac, and remember coming across some mp3s in a shared folder before I really quite knew what they were... the first download would have been Fatboyslim's Rockafeller Skank.
Gee thanks, now I'll have THAT stuck in my head all morning!
On a related note: what was everyone's first VINYL album? Mine was Sting's "Dream of Blue Turtles" and Grieg's "Peer Gynt", bought at the same time so a tie.

First vinyl album? It's a tie between The Care Bears - The Care Bears Care For You and The Smurfs - Smurfing Sing Song. First single-ish thing I probably got was those ALF records Burger King used to give away with their combo's. If I only kept those.
Real music however, it had to be Genesis self named album and the Miami Vice Soundtrack (which I still have in a drawer). I later got these albums on CD, but the real reason I bought the albums was because it was a family garage sale and I remember listening to that stuff at the time (It was 1986).
For the heck of it, the first CD I got was Gowan - Strange Animal followed by Dire Straits - Money For Nothing a week later around Christmas 1993.
I think the first one I got was Can't get enough of you baby by Smash Mouth .. and that was because it was the first time i tried the !get function in mIRC.
