Nietzsche Sucks

Frederich Whilhem Nietzsche: just saying that name reminds one of many things. To me it reminds of me of my youth, and my rebel without a cause crusade. In my youth I would use Nitzhce to impress my fellow high school students with the breadth of my intellectual pursuits. "Look guys I'm reading crazy obscure philosophy. Nitchze invented Nihilism, ( Read more... )

Um...Nietzche was not evil, and he is one of the most influential thinkers in the Western world, for good or ill. I have read some of his work and find that quite a bit of it is every bit as relevant today as it was when he wrote it.

great arguement. so why isn't he evil?

he is influencial. check

he is relevent. check (even though saying something is relevent is almost mindless, since it's so relative and not really a useful adjective in an arguement.)

so aside from these pluses, i am still not convinced. why is nitzche not evil? did you even read the part about him fucking talking to the "spirit" of zarathustra.

besides, aside from nitzche either being insane or plagued by bad spirits. depeding on what you call him, his arguements are not very user firneldy.

he argues that morality is is stupid, and to denie bestial urges to power is dumb. so you might as well be fatalistic and immoral, because thats the quickest way to power. if you buy into that stuff, i have no use for your arguements. because all that phylisophical anti-moralist crap is just a bunch of intelligencia hogwash. morals are law to me.

It would do all of us in this forum good to actually go read some Nietzsche; and also to spell his name correctly. The Gay Science is well written, as well as On The Genealogy of Morality. While we're at it, let's read some Kant; how about The Critique of Pure Reason and the Metaphysics of Morals. I bet my tuition that we can find some very interesting parallels between these two classic thinkers, and come to the realization that his inspiration on the counter culture of the 1960's and the modern day "non-conformist conformist" are as superficial and ill-conceived as his influence on Hitlerism.

Also, always remember:

Being ~P doesn't make you better than P

Thanks,

Mike Pierce

I particularly liked the concluding sentence: "And it is reason enough to respect believers as decent human beings struggling to make sense of a mysterious world" We would all do well to remember this.

"When reading his book Thus Sprach Zarathustra I get really mad and want to beat up Satanists."

Absolute classic line.

Yes he makes me want to puke too.

you truly disgust me. Reading this made me feel mentally soiled. Your position and the language are in such contradiction that I can only conclude that you haven't taken any time to truly consider the things you write about.
