Icon tutorial #1

Learn how to make this icon:

1. This tutorial is made for PS7. I tried to account for differences in PSP, as I made the tutorial for famousfeesh and that's all she has. I don't have PSP, so I don't know for sure if some of these steps can even be done on PSP.
2. Credit is not necessary, as you shouldn't be following it exactly (you might as well just take the icon if you're going to do that). But if you want to credit me, by all means, feel free.
3. Comment & let me know if you tried it and what you got.
4. If any areas of this tutorial are confusing (which is entirely possible, hehe), let me know. I also realize that a couple of the steps might be unnecessarily redundant, but I don't feel like going back and finding out if eliminating them will have any effect on the end result.

STEP ONE

TO
: Crop. Derrr.

STEP TWO

TO
: Duplicate the bottom layer. Set the new top layer to Color Burn (for PSP: Burn is the closest mode, I believe). Desaturate the bottom layer.

STEP THREE

TO
: Over the first two layers, I upped the brightness (+21) and contrast (+14). I used an adjustment layer (Layer>>New Adjustment Layer>>Brightness/Contrast), which in Photoshop is a layer that affects all the layers UNDERNEATH it but not above it. If you don't have that function, wait till the very end of the tutorial when you have everything else done, then come back, merge your bottom two layers, and use those numbers on your brightness/contrast then.

STEP FOUR

TO
: Duplicate your very bottom layer & bring it to the very top. Slide it over to the left till it's lined up like so.

STEP FIVE

TO
: Duplicate your top layer. Set the now top layer to Overlay.

STEP SIX

TO
: Paste this image (by gender; I rotated, cropped, and inverted):

as a new layer on top and set it to Lighten. If you don't have Lighten as blend mode, try finding any blend mode that makes just the white dots appear over the icon, making the black become transparent.

STEP SEVEN

TO
: Paste this image:

as a new layer on top and set it to Screen at 86% opacity.

STEP EIGHT

TO
: Paste this image:

as a new layer on top and set it to Screen at 86% opacity.

STEP NINE

TO
: Paste this image:

as a new layer on top and set it to Difference. You're done! If you don't have that adjustment layer thing I was talking about, now you should go to your bottom two layers, merge them, and adjust the brightness/contrast as I said before.

STEPS SIX-NINE: I'm pretty sure I just made shapes of different colors and did some erasing at different opacities to achieve these effects. I'm really not sure though!
