Yerp, I had con drop a couple of days ago after successfully holding it at bay. It is depressing, yes? :-P And have just spent several days unable to get any solid work done because of parenting schedule, and what time I did have, I spent it writing, editing, recording, and uploading something for the Three Patch Podcast. Now I have to pick up Geeklet in six minutes and I haven't done ANYTHING that feels like real-life work, and we have a threeeeeeeeeee-day weeeeeeeekend coming up. I think I'd better head back to the Margate, don't you? You'll be there, right? Maybe I can try a Dead Hufflepuff. I love bananas. Maybe this time I'll get over myself and be able to stay on the dance floor when fun nice people come to dance with me. Oh, I know. We can start over Misti-Con from the beginning and I can go see all the presentations I missed because I was either giving a talk or writing one. This time I'll make it to the sauna.
Ha! I haven't gotten to the regretting things I didn't do/take advantage of at con, I'm still so astounded that it isn't my real life! But now I'm starting to think about the sauna...
There's been a lot of chatter on FB about getting people together in Florida when the new HP attraction is built... I already know I'll be there, either with fandom friends, or RL friends, or maybe with both!
Oh, and I may have watched all available videos from con, especially the fashion show and the "Dark Mark Calling" dance, ten or more times each... :D
Hmm. Wasn't invited to FB group, haven't made up mind about joining -- isn't it already full? And would have to make decisions about bringing the girls, and it sounds more like a get-together and cosplay event rather than the talk-giving that is my squee of choice. Just mumbling onscreen here.
Oh, unless you mean possibly a get-together that doesn't have to squeeze into the 120-person max...maybe then... It all seems so far away!
I came down with delayed con crud - horrible throat infection - Thursday evening, and didn't really recover till Tuesday. It sucked - especially since after skiving off all Misti weekend, I was too sick to catch up on the chores. Bleah. Would much rather have been drinking Ravenclaw Houses in the Margate lobby and watching the fabulously dressed world go by.
I've spent a shocking amount of money since I got back hanging on to that feeling! Between new Hufflepuff sweater and robe, plus a huge new set of Lego Hogwarts Castle, I'm hanging on with my purse-strings!!
So true. It's a delightful thing to realize that your fantasy life can touch so materially on "real" life. So many people never get to do that, and few do it as fabulously as people that go to conventions or people that work every weekend on costumes to be worn at the events you're planning to attend or those who do fan art or spend countless hours writing stories. Can you believe people who spend all that extra time watching television???
What is this fellytision of which you speak? (I gave mine up when I moved to my condo 9 years ago!) Give me fanfic and other fandom pursuits anyday! :)
