So really looks like it's between:

Droid - Real keyboard - Verizon - Android (so more open, but less apps)
iPhone - virtual keyboard - AT&T - iPhone OS (more closed, but more apps)

Both seem basically to be the same price in the end, for both plans and phone cost...
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

My Palm Pre has the same slow-interface problem. It is annoying as hell. I recommend avoiding the Droid for that reason alone.

I don't have/haven't tried either, but I've heard others say you'd probably like the Droid better.
