Make the CD in iTunes? davidclaw January 11 2006, 21:26:44 UTC
Try burning right from iTunes without going to Roxio.

Works fine on my Mac G5...

That's what I tried to do the second time, burn it in iTunes.

Shouldn't be a copyright protection, unless it's something new Apple is doing.

I've also had problems with music that I imported into the iTunes Library from a CD doing this really retarded skipping. I wanted to make a copy of Tapping the Vein's "The Damage" for Thom so we could keep my signed CD safely at home, and initially it was skipping like crazy. Today I downloaded an update for iTunes and now it's just fine.

I'm assuming you're a Windows user? davidclaw January 11 2006, 22:00:46 UTC
If so, how good is the CD burner in your computer?

How good is the blank media you are using? These things can greatly affect the quality of the burned CD.

Also, burn your CDs as slowly as possible. More errors are intorduced the faster you burn.

For instance, we always burn Brainclaw CDs and other important masters in real time.

In addition, Roxio probably isn't "converting" your iTunes files into Quicktime files (although there's certainly nothing wrong with QT files.)

It's just that your dominant program will "label" your files with their icon.

SOme thoughts for you...

No, I am a Mac user. Thanks for your advice and thoughts! Turns out the CD plays FINE on my car stereo, and played fine on my co-worker's computer. I think my reader is officially bad. I also got taught by Anorexotica how to subvert the MP3 conversion block iTunes has on its downloaded music ...
