COPING WITH CRISIS

I joined an Oratorical contest when I was in Junior year. I was so overwhelmed by the fact that I won, and I would like to share with you my speech:

I'm not really the type of person who says everything is going to be okay. For one, I don't want to hold responsibility for how things will really turn out. What if nothing will be okay? What is everything goes wrong? For another, i believe an effective way of coping with crisis is actually through crying. Instead of saying "everything's going to be okay", i say "i-iyak mo lang" or "let it out!". If one recognizes not just the ups but also the downs in life, he/she will learn to appreciate the littlest and simplest joys.

Yes, I do look at the mirror sometimes and not recognize the person staring back at me. I think it's because we're searching for something bigger than ourselves. This doesn't always mean we're not contented with who we are but it could be that we know there's something more to us than we've ever seen before. ;)
